A collaborative project by Emmy Gentile, Cui Jian, Kurtis Rogers, and Alexander Muller

The Last Mile of delivery comprises about 53% of the total cost of shipment due to:

MORE TIME ON THE ROAD

POOR ROUTE PLANNING

FAILED DELIVERIES

We took a look at how we can make the process more efficient

In urban areas, there are near constant delays due to traffic

How can we create a new system that is autonomous, trackable, and capable of overcoming obstacles that are typical of an urban environment?

Drivers can manage their route individually, and have to balance their walk or drive

Sometimes drivers need a signature but customers are not at home

Drivers need to place a delivery at a defined place and take a photo to confirm

There are demanding obstacles like stairs, missing paths, mud, or roads closed for vehicles
